Eligible Training Fields

The Internship & Career Training Program provides opportunities for participants to gain professional training and practical experience in a wide range of occupational fields in the United States, including:

Arts and Culture

Opportunities in creative industries, design, cultural organizations, performing arts, and other related fields.

Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, and Industrial Occupations

Professional training opportunities in science, technology, engineering, architecture, mathematics, manufacturing, and technical fields.

Management, Business, Commerce, and Finance

Training opportunities in business administration, management, marketing, accounting, finance, commerce, entrepreneurship, and business development.

Hospitality and Tourism

Opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism companies, event management, hospitality services, and related industries.

Public Administration and Law

Professional training in government organizations, public services, legal services, compliance, regulations, and related fields.

Information Media and Communications

Opportunities in media, journalism, digital content, public relations (PR), marketing communications, and technology-based communication fields.


What Types of Training Are Prohibited?

Not all employers are eligible to host Interns and Trainees through the program. InterExchange cannot sponsor programs involving training or activities in the following areas:

  • Animal care or direct handling of animals
  • Childcare services
  • Clinical work involving direct patient care or medical treatment
  • Dentistry or dental-related work
  • Eldercare services
  • Multi-level marketing (MLM)
  • Psychological counseling
  • Social work
  • Sports or physical therapy
  • Teaching or classroom instruction
  • Trades or crafts requiring specialized manual skills (such as pottery, carpentry, metalworking, furniture manufacturing, cabinet making, etc.)
  • Veterinary medicine

Types of Positions Not Eligible for the Program

The following types of positions are not permitted under the Internship & Career Training Program:

  • Agricultural environments, including farm work and vineyard harvesting
  • Arcade and gaming centers
  • Wedding service providers
  • Camp positions (For camp opportunities, please consider the Camp USA Program)
  • Candy stores, mall kiosks, and street vendors
  • Convenience stores, grocery stores, and retail stores (Work and Travel may be more suitable for seasonal employment opportunities)
  • Call centers, customer service positions, telephone operator roles, including technical support and help desk positions
  • Fast-food restaurants, quick-service restaurants, and cafes (Work and Travel may be more suitable for seasonal employment opportunities)
  • Fitness centers, gyms, swimming pools, dance studios, personal training, and coaching positions
  • Auto repair shops and garages
  • Parks and garden maintenance
  • Gas stations and toll booth operations
  • Landscaping and grounds maintenance companies
  • Swimming pool management companies
  • Real estate agencies
  • Retail stores and boutique shops
  • Schools and educational institutions, including teaching and coaching positions
  • Spas, beauty salons, and pet grooming services
  • Staffing and employment agencies

If your organization requires seasonal workers or offers positions that are not suitable for the Career Training USA Program, the Work and Travel Program may be a more appropriate option to meet your staffing needs.
